5) Tournament rules
Sweden Open follows the International Floorball Federation (IFF) rules as the reference framework. The points below highlight the rules most relevant for a 3v3 corporate tournament.
A) Team & eligibility
-
Each team may register up to 8 players. Only registered players may participate.
-
A team must have at least 3 players to start a match.
-
If a team cannot field at least 2 players during play, the match will be stopped and recorded as a walkover.
B) On-court requirements
-
3 players per team on court.
-
Minimum 1 female player on court at all times. Teams manage substitutions accordingly.
C) Match time
-
10 minutes, countdown clock.
-
Semi-effective time: the clock stops in connection with goals, penalties, penalty shots, and the referee’s triple signal for unusual interruptions (e.g., injury, damaged ball, boards moving).
D) Timeouts
-
No timeouts are allowed.
E) Penalties (simplified)
-
Bench penalties are 1 minute. The penalised player may not be replaced on court during the penalty.
-
High sticks, dangerous play and major infringements follow standard IFF principles.
-
Referees may apply stronger sanctions for serious or unsafe conduct.
F) Tied knockout matches (penalty shots)
-
If a match that must be decided ends in a draw, each team selects 3 players to take one penalty shot each. (From mid-court)
-
If still tied, the same players continue in sudden-death rounds until a winner is decided.
